Good news! If you cannot make it to the Saturday Farmers Market from 8 AM-12 PM, you can now check us out on Wednesdays from 4- 6PM.

There are special vendors on Wednesdays including the Great Harvest Bread Company and Anathoth Community Gardens but some of your favorites too including Hurtgen Meadows and Fickle Creek Farms..

Items for sale include… fresh bread, cookies, free range eggs, pork, beef, fresh cut flowers, seasonal vegetables, fruit and more!

HILLSBOROUGH — Seasonal eating with ingredients that come from local farms will accent The Eno River Farmers Market’s second “Hillsborough Harvest Dinner, An Evening at the Eno River Farmers Market,” in historic downtown Hillsborough on Saturday.

The market will host the dinner, featuring all locally raised products cooked by market chefs.

Chef Austin Genke of Box Carr will use pork, lamb, vegetables, fruit, cheese, and baked goods from Eno River Farmers Market vendors to prepare an elegant, sit-down, farm-to-fork dinner for 72 guests.

The event, which is sponsored by the market and the Orange County Visitors Bureau, is intended to celebrate local farmers and sustainably grown foods, and take advantage of the beautiful Public Market House, in which the farmers market is held every Saturday morning.

And while growing up, he said he spent a lot of time dashing through the forest looking for an adventure outside the Kanawha Valley in West Virginia.

Vegetable vendors will have beets, radishes, turnips, carrots, lettuce, and greens of every variety. A lot of the produce at the market is grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. We encourage you to ask the vendors about their growing methods.  Several vendors sell certified organic produce.

I think what I love most about the packaging that these Artisan Flatbread Crackers from The Accidental Baker come in is that all the information usually hidden in the back (in fine print of ingredients and the company’s address) is in big bold text on the front of their packaging. Just shows how proud they are of their products.

We have some great gift baskets which we will be rolling out this fall; at least on of which includes these crackers. Happily during the photo shoot I was able to sample the Roasted Garlic & Rosemary variety. They are simple, with 7 ingredients, and are made with organic flour and packaged in compostable bags. Excellent crackers.
